The PADI Instructor Development Course at Blue Marlin Dive, Gili Trawangan. Conducted personally and entirely by 13x Platinum PADI Course Director Holly Macleod.
Blue Marlin Dive Gili Trawangan was the first PADI IDC Centre established in the Gili Islands, and it remains the benchmark for professional instructor training in Indonesia. The program is built around a method Holly Macleod has refined over more than two decades of training instructors across Southeast Asia, Australia, the UK, and the Americas.
The core principle is experience-based training. Every classroom session connects directly to a real teaching situation. Every confined water presentation is assessed against the standards new instructors will face in actual dive centre environments, not just on examination day. The result is instructors who are genuinely ready for the job, not just certified on paper.
The PADI Instructor Development Course at Gili Trawangan covers knowledge development sessions, confined water teaching presentations, open water skill demonstrations, emergency scenario training, and full preparation for the PADI Instructor Examination conducted by an independent PADI Examiner. Emergency First Response Instructor certification is included as part of the program.

The Gili Islands IDC program runs on a regular schedule throughout 2026, including a July 1 to 20 intake with the Instructor Examination on July 21 and 22, and an August 5 to 24 intake with the Instructor Examination on August 25 and 26. Enrollment operates on a first-come basis, and available places can fill quickly for peak season dates, so early enquiries are advisable.
To enroll in the PADI IDC you need to hold a PADI Divemaster certification or equivalent professional level rating from a recognized training agency. A minimum of 100 logged dives is required. You also need valid Emergency First Response or CPR and first aid training within the last 24 months, though this can be completed as part of the Divemaster course. Holly Macleod will confirm all specific prerequisites when you make contact.
The PADI IDC prepares you fully for the PADI Instructor Examination, which is conducted separately by an independent PADI Examiner immediately following the course. The IE is not part of the IDC itself but takes place at Blue Marlin Dive Gili Trawangan on the scheduled examination dates. Holly Macleod's preparation method has produced a consistently strong first-attempt pass rate among Gili Trawangan IDC candidates.
Places on the PADI IDC Gili Trawangan are limited per course. Contact Holly Macleod directly to confirm your availability and reserve your place in the 2026 program.
